What happens when a creative person dives into the technical world? For me, it’s been a journey full of growth, self-discovery, and a renewed sense of purpose.

With a Master’s in English Literature, I knew writing was my passion. I remember a professor once telling me how much he appreciated my writing style. That moment stuck with me and sparked the idea of turning my love for writing into a career. My first job as a content writer brought that vision to life, allowing me to create everything from travel blogs to social media posts. But after a while, I started feeling like something was missing – a deeper connection to what I was doing.

That’s when I found a job posting for a technical writer at Scribe of AI. At first, it caught my eye, but I hesitated. Could I really shift to such a different field? I had no technical background, and my knowledge of AI was limited to hearing about tools like ChatGPT. But despite the doubts, I decided to go for it. With the support of my team, I made the transition, and not only did I learn – I thrived.

Now, I write about the transformative power of AI and how technologies like computer vision are changing industries and solving real-world problems. The more I learn, the more I’m fascinated by AI’s potential to drive positive change. While some are skeptical, I see AI as a helpful partner, a tool that makes life easier. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to a future that feels exciting and full of possibility.

Stepping into the World of AI Writing

Taking on the role of a technical writer was one thing, but diving into the world of AI writing was a whole new adventure.  My training introduced me to lots of unfamiliar terms, different writing styles, and the task of understanding complex concepts like computer vision. I remember spending late nights drafting and revising, uncertain if I was on the right track.

My first assignment was to write about AI in textile production, a topic that both excited and intimidated me. I’ve always been interested in fashion, but learning about the manufacturing side was a completely new experience. Discovering how AI improves processes in the industry was both fascinating and challenging. It took time to understand these ideas, but eventually, everything started to click.

The day my first article on AI was published, I felt a sense of accomplishment like never before. All the self-doubt and nervousness faded away. Since then, there’s been no looking back. While I still get a bit nervous when starting a new topic, it quickly fades as I dive deeper, letting the process flow. Each new piece feels like a small win, a reminder of how far I’ve come in this field in such a short time.

Discovering Passion in Technical Writing

I have discovered that writing about AI isn’t just a job; it’s something I genuinely enjoy. With experience,  I’ve grown as a writer, and now I feel a deep sense of satisfaction in my work.

As a technical writer in AI, computer vision has become a field that fascinates me. One model that really amazed me is YOLO (You Only Look Once), a powerful tool that makes object detection and other processes more efficient across many industries. These topics seemed complex initially but became easier to explain once I started writing.

The topic I’ve enjoyed writing about the most is AI in mental health. I was surprised by how many people face mental health challenges and don’t get the help they need, often because of the stigma around it. But now, thanks to technologies like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, therapy can be accessed from home.

Another topic that really caught my attention was dog pose estimation, and as a dog parent, it was especially fascinating to me. Being a dog parent to Teddy made the topic feel even more personal. It was exciting to learn how AI can track a dog’s movements and behavior. It’s amazing to see how technology is not just helping people but animals, too, and writing about it was truly rewarding.

This hands-on experience of writing about AI also deepened my appreciation for how our team makes complex technologies accessible, not just for experts but for everyone. Through our work, we aim to demonstrate how AI and computer vision are making a real difference in industries and people’s lives.

A Journey of Growth: From Training to Teamwork

When I got the chance to apply at Scribe of AI, I felt both excited and nervous. Moving into technical writing, especially in AI, felt like stepping into unknown territory. But the training experience turned out to be incredibly rewarding. I gave my best effort to learn, and Abirami Vina, our founder and chief writer, matched it with equal dedication. No matter how complex a concept was, she ensured I understood it. She even took time out of her busy schedule, sometimes late at night, to help me. That level of support pushed me to work even harder.

Regular reviews and training sessions were key to my learning. Technical writing wasn’t my strength at first, and it felt overwhelming. But with good mentoring, I slowly grasped the fundamentals. This was also my first time receiving formal guidance in content writing. I was the only content writer in my previous roles, learning independently without external mentorship.

Now, as part of a team of talented writers, I learn something new every day. Each team member has unique strengths, and working alongside them has been inspiring. Constructive feedback has also been a major part of my growth. Being recognized for good work is motivating, and when there’s room for improvement, the feedback is always encouraging rather than discouraging.

Through this journey, I’ve realized that teamwork and mentoring are invaluable. No matter how experienced one is, stepping into a new organization comes with its own set of challenges. But having a welcoming and supportive team makes all the difference. It eases the transition, helps adapt to the writing style, and gives a sense of belongingness. 

Bridging Creativity and Technical Expertise

For three years, I was doing creative writing, crafting stories, shaping narratives, and playing with words across different industries. I worked on everything from hospitality blogs to ghostwriting, website content, and social media posts. As a literature student, my love for words only grew, sometimes valuing the words more than the information itself.

Then came the shift to technical writing, a world where clarity outweighs creativity, simplicity is key, and words serve to inform rather than merely engage. It was an exciting yet scary transition. On one hand, my storytelling skills helped make technical content more relatable, using real-life examples to simplify complex ideas. On the other, I had to unlearn certain habits: no more flowery language, no artistic liberties, just clear and precise writing.

At first, the transition was tricky. If I used too much creativity, the message wasn’t clear, and if I used too little, it felt boring. Over time, I found the right balance. The feedback helped me adjust my writing style. Now, even when I write technical content, my creative side still shows, whether in how I explain things or simplify complex ideas. So, even though I’m a technical writer now, the storyteller in me is always there.

Looking Ahead

AI was once just a buzzword I heard about but never thought I’d be writing about. Now, it’s everywhere: on our phones, in our workplaces, and even in the small tools we use every day. It’s changing how we live and work, and writing about it is exciting.

Some worry that AI will replace jobs, but I see it differently. AI isn’t here to take over; it’s here to improve things. The key is learning to work with it, not against it. As a technical writer, I’m excited by how AI shapes the future. It’s already impacting industries, from healthcare for medical imaging to retail for inventory management.

This journey has been a learning curve for me. When I first started, writing felt like a solo task. However, as I began collaborating with a team, I learned the value of feedback. Each challenge has helped me grow, not just as a writer but as a professional. Looking ahead, I know AI will continue to evolve, and I’m eager to grow with it.

Looking back on this journey, I realize how much I have learned, not just about writing but about adaptability, teamwork, and growth. Moving from creative to technical writing wasn’t always easy, but every challenge helped me improve, and every piece of feedback made me better.

I’m thankful for my team’s constant support, guiding me when I struggled, and encouraging me to improve. Writing is often seen as a solo task, but I’ve learned that growth comes from collaboration, learning from others, and staying open-minded.

The path may not always be smooth, but every step forward brings fresh opportunities.
